Spinal Tumors

Spinal tumors can develop within the spinal cord, surrounding tissues, nerve structures, or vertebral column.


Possible Symptoms

  • Persistent back pain

  • Weakness

  • Numbness

  • Difficulty walking

  • Sensory changes


Diagnosis

MRI is particularly useful for evaluating spinal tumors. Additional imaging, systemic cancer evaluation, or biopsy may also be required.


Treatment

Treatment may include surgery, radiation therapy, stereotactic techniques, systemic cancer therapy, or observation depending on the tumor.
