Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

Lumbar spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra shifts relative to the vertebra below it.

Common Symptoms

  • Back pain

  • Buttock or leg pain

  • Numbness

  • Weakness

  • Difficulty walking

Diagnosis

Standing X-rays can demonstrate vertebral slippage, while MRI or CT may be used to assess nerve compression and other structural changes.

Treatment

Treatment may include rehabilitation and activity modification. More significant instability or neurological compression may require decompression and spinal fusion.
