Brain Metastases

Brain metastases develop when cancer cells originating elsewhere in the body spread to the brain.


Possible Symptoms

  • Headaches

  • Seizures

  • Weakness

  • Speech changes

  • Vision problems

  • Cognitive or personality changes@


Diagnosis

Contrast-enhanced MRI is commonly used to evaluate suspected metastatic brain tumors, often together with assessment of the primary cancer.


Treatment

Treatment may involve surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, radiation therapy, systemic cancer therapy, or a combination of approaches.
